Harsova, Romania
The town of Harsova, population 11,000, is located approximately three hours east of the city of Bucharest, the capital of Romania toward the Black Sea port city of Constanta. Although a strategically located town that includes a regional hospital, the Romania government designated Harsova as a disadvantaged area in 2001. Unemployment is high. The major industry is agriculture. The population is separated into three major people groups: Romanian, Turkish and Gypsies.
